Company develop a universal navigation system - "the autopilot for a transport robots" capable of functioning as a part of land or water transport robots, UAVs, and as part of the planetary autonomous robot. The system is based on machine vision technology, IMU and GLONASS/GPS. "Autopilot" will allow the mobile robot always know their location and surroundings, as well as to calculate route to a given point in view of static and dynamic obstacles. The project uses achievements of its founders in the field of computer vision and pattern recognition, build telemetry and autonomous computing systems.


The main R&D and production of robots are concentrated in the US and Japan. According to USA’s Robotic Industries Association (RIA), in 2010 US companies have purchased 49% more robots in money equivalent than in 2009. 51% of orders came from automobile industry. In 2010 usage of robots was growing by 90% in metal-working, by 66% in electronics, by 57% in plastics and rubber manufacturing, by 47% in FMCG manufacturing, by 26% in medical care and pharma. Japan is leading in three main directions: industrial robotics, construction robotics and entertainment robotics. Robots are also used in aeronautics and space, nuclear energy, sea operations, various R&D, transportation and agriculture. The world’s robotics market is constantly growing. According to Japanese Robotics Association, in 2025 the robotics market will reach the volume of $66,4 billion, which is 6 times higher than in 2005. The most promising segments of robotics market as seen by market researchers are warehousing and transportation.


RoboCV, Ltd. was incorporated in January 2012, in April 2012 it has become a Skolkovo resident, and in July 2012 has received 5 mln. rubles as a grant from Skolkovo Foundation. The company holds a Russian patent for a «Combined navigation complex», and is planning to file for patents in the US, EU and other countries.

Investment opportunities

On the next stage of the project (December'2012 – December'2013) an investment of 15 mln. rubles ($494 000) will be needed (as a co-investment for a Stage 1 grant). The investment will be used to evolve the technology and the prototype of the hardware/software product.
